Nitrogen Compressor

Nitrogen generators, also known as Nitrogen compressors, provide a cost-effective, dependable source of high-purity nitrogen for industrial applications. Nitrogen is used across a variety of industries, including food and beverage packaging, brewery purging, and chemical/petrochemical blanketing and purging processes. PDC Machines’ nitrogen generator systems are available in a wide range of pressures, from laboratory environments up to 400 psi, to fit your specific needs. Pre-treated compressed air from your existing system is supplied to the generator, which uses a PSA (pressure swing adsorption) or membrane technology to create nitrogen gas.

Nitrogen Compressor: Understanding Its Role in Industrial Applications

PSA nitrogen generators use a dual tower design filled with a carbon molecular sieve (CMS) to produce a continuous stream of nitrogen gas. The on-line tower takes in pretreated compressed air that passes through the CMS where oxygen and trace gases are preferentially adsorbed, while nitrogen freely flows through. After a set time, the on-line tower automatically switches to regenerative mode to vent contaminants out of the CMS, replenishing it with fresh CMS from a separate off-line tower.

The on-site generation of nitrogen removes the need to lease or purchase nitrogen from third parties in high-pressure cylinders. This saves money by eliminating the expense of raising purchase orders, scheduling deliveries and paying delivery fees. Furthermore, the elimination of cylinder storage reduces safety hazards as staff are not required to handle and move heavy cylinders. Also, a continuous supply of nitrogen means no shortages or downtime caused by delivery delays.
